The Swiss railways enjoy an excellent reputation for their reliability and quality, as well as for their impressive rail network, which connects cities and crosses the Alps. The Swiss are just as proud of this as they are of their breathtaking landscapes. The Brünig Railway takes you to Meiringen, passing through small villages, crystal-clear lakes and imposing mountain panoramas.
In Meiringen, a historic funicular takes you up to the legendary Reichenbach Falls, the scene where Sherlock Holmes and Professor Moriarty both plunge to their deaths in Conan Doyle’s novel ‘The Final Problem’. A narrow footpath leads us through the Aare Gorge, alongside the rushing River Aare, which winds its way impressively through 200-metre-high rock faces, offering an incomparable natural spectacle.
You are free to spend the evening exploring the city of Lucerne at your leisure. On request, we can organise a romantic candlelit dinner on Lake Lucerne for you.
